A Love Letter Turned Verdict
From the age of 17, I worked in luxury hospitality under Marriott International, believing professionalism, loyalty, and hark work would lead to growth, stability, and opportunity. Instead, I found myself navigating emotional manipulation, workplace misconduct, financial exploitation, retaliation, and systemic failures at Toronto Marriott Markham that would permanently alter my life.
This was never supposed to end with courtrooms, survival, and the protection of abusers. After Marriott Headquarters and their counsel dismissed my concerns, I was expected to disappear quietly.
Could never be me. By trying to silence me, they helped me create someone impossible to overlook.
This is my affidavit and the verdict is coming.
Current Mood: Formula - Euphoria
My Affidavit
2019
I joined Toronto Marriott Markham as a Guest Service Agent. I was young, eager to grow, and willing to give everything to an industry I genuinely admired. At first, it felt beautiful. Expensive lobbies. Late nights. Carefully curated smiles. What I did not yet understand was how much darkness was hiding behind the lobby.
2021
Behind office doors and during overnight shifts, personal and professional boundaries blurred with someone looking to take advantage of me in every way possible. Financial promises became financial exploitation, emotional dependence became control, intimacy became coercion and silence became survival. Even his fantasies about violence became something he tried to normalize.
The deeper I fell into it, the more isolated I became. Somewhere during that time, I lost myself before everything around me collapsed. And while the physical marks faded, the mental impact grew.
2022
I returned to Toronto Marriott Markham as a Rooms Operations Supervisor believing things would finally improve. Then he became my direct manager, and the damage followed me into the workplace once again.
My mental health deteriorated while I continued to survive emotionally, financially, and professionally. I disclosed my condition to management and requested support. Shortly after, I was met with silence, retaliation, and eventually termination. The same brand that preached "Act with Integrity" discarded me while continuing to protect and elevate the managers who harmed me. Promotions, protection, relocation opportunities, and legal support were what they got instead.
2025
What once looked like a luxury hospitality career became multiple legal proceedings and ongoing litigation.
Somewhere between the harm, the unanswered emails, the intimidation, the courtrooms, and the rebuilding, the woman I used to be disappeared. In her place stands someone far more dangerous. I sued and got sued, but if you know me, you know I love challenges, and fear stopped working on me a long time ago.
Signed,
Chaenelle S.C.
Plaintiff. Defendant. The woman they underestimated.
